Remmers KSE 100 – Stone Strengthener & Consolidant

Remmers KSE 100 is a professional-grade stone strengthener based on silicic acid ester (KSE) technology, developed to strengthen weakly weathered natural stone and mineral building materials without altering their appearance or vapour permeability. It penetrates deep into porous substrates, reinforcing weakened stone from within while maintaining the natural character of the surface.

Designed for conservation and restoration projects, KSE 100 is particularly suitable for fine-pored natural stone, masonry and mineral substrates with relatively low absorbency. Its low gel deposition rate of approximately 10% helps create uniform strength profiles while reducing the risk of excessive surface consolidation or surface spalling.

Unlike water-repellent treatments, KSE 100 is non-hydrophobising, allowing the substrate to retain its natural moisture vapour permeability after treatment. The product is commonly used as part of Remmers' stone conservation system and can be combined with higher gel deposition KSE products where additional strengthening is required.

Typical Applications
Natural stone restoration
Historic and listed buildings
Heritage conservation projects
Stone façades
Sandstone repairs
Limestone conservation
Masonry strengthening
Fine-pored mineral substrates
Weathered architectural stone

Coverage
Typical consumption ranges from 0.3 litres per m² to several litres per square metre depending on the type, porosity and condition of the substrate. A trial application is recommended to determine the exact consumption for each project.

Application
The substrate should be clean, dry and free from dust or contaminants before application. Existing defects such as open joints, cracks or sources of moisture should be repaired prior to treatment. Apply generously using flow coating, low-pressure spray or brush application until the substrate reaches saturation. Multiple wet-on-damp applications may be required depending on absorbency.

Allow sufficient reaction time before applying subsequent coatings or conservation treatments.

Storage
Store unopened in its original sealed container in a cool, dry, frost-free environment. Shelf life is up to 12 months when stored correctly.
