Remmers KSE 300 – Stone Strengthener
Remmers KSE 300 is a solvent-free stone strengthener based on silicic acid ester (KSE), developed for consolidating strongly weathered and loosened natural stone and other suitable mineral building materials.

It penetrates into the substrate, where the active ingredient reacts with moisture to form a silica gel binder. This helps replace mineral binder lost through weathering, strengthening the internal structure of suitable stone and mineral surfaces.

KSE 300 is particularly suited to conservation and restoration projects involving historic buildings, weathered masonry and architectural stonework. It can also be used on suitable historic renders and joints where consolidation is required.

Key features and benefits
- Stone consolidation: Helps strengthen strongly weathered and loosened surfaces.
- High penetration depth: Designed to penetrate absorbent mineral substrates.
- Solvent-free formulation: Based on silicic acid ester.
- Non-hydrophobising: Does not provide a permanent water-repellent treatment.
- Suitable for heritage restoration: For appropriate natural stone, mineral building materials, historic renders and joints.
- Compatible restoration systems: Can be used as part of a specified conservation approach, including in combination with Remmers KSE 100 where appropriate.

Technical information
- Product type: Silicic acid ester-based stone strengthener
- Appearance: Clear to slightly cloudy; may have a slight yellow tinge
- Active ingredient content: Approximately 99% by mass
- Gel release rate: Approximately 30%
- Application temperature: +8°C to +25°C
- Approximate consumption: 0.3 litres/m² to several litres/m², depending on the substrate and application

Application guidance
The substrate must be clean, dry and free from dust. Apply by low-pressure flow coating without creating a mist, working in manageable sections and brushing the liquid into the surface. Repeat wet-on-damp applications until the substrate no longer absorbs the product.

Carry out a trial area to establish the required consumption. Newly treated surfaces must be protected from driving rain, wind, direct sunlight and condensation.

Allow at least 28 days for the silica gel formation process before applying restoration mortars, water-repellent treatments or paints, subject to the manufacturer's guidance and the actual condition of the treated substrate.

Remmers KSE 300 is a specialist conservation material. Assess the condition, porosity, moisture content and salt contamination of the substrate before use, and consult the latest technical data sheet for full application instructions.
